I Have A New Appreciation For Staying True

December 04/15

My musical suggestion for TGIF is "Same Old War" by Our Last Night (The Acoustical Version)

So I have to admit that when my alarm went off at 5am this morning it was all I could do to keep from hitting snooze and burrowing under the blankets and skipping my solo session at the gym. I'm proud to say I didn't give into temptation and dragged my tired ass off to do my workout and 20 minutes on the treadmill as part of the cool down.

I ran into my trainer as he was working with another client and as I walked past on my way to the fitness centre to use the resistance bands to try and continue working on the tightness in my right shoulder he gave me a high five and said he'd noticed I'd been in the last two days working on my plan.  Pretty cool and a good motivator for sure.

The best motivation is really how I felt when I got home and took Moki for her walk as I had a little bounce in my step and felt pretty energized. I think Moki picked up on my mood as she seemed really happy to be out and running around like the big puppy she is, literally running in circles around me when I let her off the leash.

I used to wonder how hard the workouts were when C would talk about her own sessions with her trainer and have to say I really under estimated how much motivation it takes to show up early on a Saturday to let someone basically kick your ass for an hour with a plan designed to make you sweat and feel the burn. I'm nowhere near her level and know her workouts would have put me in traction so my hats off to her for staying focused and strong in her pursuits.

It's hard getting up at 5am to go to the gym when you'd rather be sleeping but seeing as how my current cuddle buddy is a 4 year old schnoodle who hogs the bed I think I'm going to stay the course as I like how I feel these days and it can only get better as the weight starts to come off.

One funny thing happened this morning as my cool down ended.  I had the treadmill set for a decent pace with some incline as I'm starting out with those baby steps but sort of forgot how rubbery the legs can get and when I stepped off the machine didn't take into account the change in height and almost face planted myself, much to the amusement of the people using the machines in the row behind me. Being ever the class clown that I am, I acted like I had nailed the dismount and declared "The Russian judge better not dock me points!"......and one woman smiled and in a very good Russian accent said "It isn't your dismount that cost you points but your lazy routine so pick up the pace next time" and air high fived me lol

Day three done and looking forward to more days like this :)
